Tourist attractions in Spain differ from one part of the country to another giving a majority of tourists a trip that is well worth their money. Apart from the sandy beaches, the natural beauty that is seen on various landscapes in the area and the islands, it is also exciting to know that Spain also has a desert.
The Tabernas desert is found in the region of Almeria which is near the city of Barcelona. This area gives tourists an opportunity to experience the desert climate that is normally experienced in the northern parts of Africa. The number of tourists to the Tabernas desert increase annually to be able to see the only desert in Europe.
The terrain of the desert is the same as that of other deserts and even has reptiles, birds and other animal species that are found in deserts. The animals live in their natural habitat with the majority being birds that need to be protected under a special arrangement with the Spanish government.
The environmental conditions has led to the desertion of some plant species which in turn has led to the forming of new plant species that have easily adapted to the climate thereby raising a lot of interest from various scientific researchers.
